Introduction:
This course is intended for those wishing to work at a more senior level in the floristry industry, who have successfully completed the Level 2 Diploma in Floristry or level 2 technical in Floristry or have commercial evidence that they have the relevant industry experience.

Entry Requirements:
To join the course you will have achieved either the Level 2 Diploma in Floristry or  Level 2 Technical in Floristry. An interview with the course tutor will be required. Students over the age of 19, who do not have the standard entry requirements, may be eligible for this course subject to previous experience and interview. It is recommended that you may have 4 GCSE’s at Grade C or above including Numeracy and Literacy.

Course Details:

The course is made up from the following units:
• Unit 301 Principles of Health and Safety
• Unit 302 Undertake and review work related experience in the land based industries
• Unit 303 Principles of the creative design process in floristry
• Unit 304 Plant and flower care
• Unit 305 Tied floral designs
• Unit 306 Floral designs in medium
• Unit 307 Wired floral designs
• Unit 308 Glued floral designs
• Unit 309 Business management and marketing in floristry
• Unit 310 Trends in the floristry industry
• Unit 311 Event Floristry
Plus –
Exams 021 – theory exam
Exam 022 – Synoptic practical exam
Exam 201 – Health and Safety exam
Employer involvement 820

In addition a one day a week work placement at a florist is compulsory for the duration of the course along with the availability to work at peak trading periods leading up to occasions such as Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Christmas, this will be required for assignments and evidence of work completed. A minimum of 180 hours is required, but more is advisable to pass the course and exams.

Course Assessment:
The units are assessed by the exams mentioned above

Course Progression:
Level 4 Higher Diploma in Floristry (HDF).

Specialist Resources:
The course will be supplemented by visits, the preparation of commercial orders which are taken by the academy, the preparation of arrangements for external events, the preparation of displays, participation in competitions and shows.

Additional Information:
Protective and suitable clothing to be worn during all practical sessions. You will need to have access to a camera to create a portfolio of your work  

Cost: £4325.00 inclusive (this can be paid in 3 instalments @£1358.33, or 12 monthly instalments @£339.58pcm + a deposit of £250.00 to secure your place)

Part time – £4550.00 inc, this can be paid with a £250.00 deposit,  and 6 instalments of £716.66, or  22 instalments of £195.45pcm
