Introduction:
This challenging new level 5 qualification is designed by highly skilled florists for florists who are experienced and qualified to a minimum of level 4 e.g. ICSF or HDF or equivalent.
This qualification will extend advanced floristry skills and theoretical knowledge at a Higher Education level.
The MDPF qualification is awarded by City and Guilds and was developed in association with The Society of Floristry.
We will be running it as a Part time course over 18 months for those already working at a high level in the industry.
The course will develop and increase your floristry knowledge and abilities, by enhancing creative skills, design techniques and theoretical understanding as used by top international designers.

CPD (continuous professional development) courses, Teaching, Demonstrating, Running your own business.

Course Details:
There will be 10 units in total which will cover the following areas:
Applied Botanical Concepts & Practices for Floristry
International Studies for Floristry
Floral Event Management
Business Management
Marketing & Promotion Management for Floristry
Design concepts for Floristry
Technical Floristry Skills in – Tied designs, Wired and Glued, Mediums and Design Innovations.
Interview Requirements:
Selection will be by a personal interview, a practical skills test and where it is felt useful, there may also be questions on theory to establish current depth of knowledge and understanding. We will also require you to bring with you a portfolio of your own work covering a range of advanced skills.
Further Information:
Due to the standard of work required in presentation at this Higher Education level, a working knowledge of a range of IT skills and an acceptable level of literacy and numeracy will be required, but support can be given in this area. Guidance will be given by your tutor.
Candidates will be expected to cover at least a few hours of CPD (continuous personal development) in a well renowned top florist, which may be out of the Bournemouth area, workshops delivered by International designers or equivalent status work.
Course Assessment:
The practical activities are assessed by three integrated assignments, and by an externally set and marked practical examination.
The underpinning knowledge is assessed by an externally set and marked written examination and by the three integrated assignments.
Specialist Resources:
The academy is well provided with dedicated teaching rooms, which are equipped with IT and specialist facilities. The course will be supplemented by visits, the preparation of commercial orders which are taken by the academy, the preparation of arrangements for external events, the preparation of displays, participation in competitions and shows.
